Left of Center: Thursday Poets Rally 41

Angles a’jangle and elbows akimbo,
Eyes and limbs askew.
A hem hanging down and a tilt-a-wheel hat
defined all life that he knew.

Life was a cobblestone complete with a trip
On each and every third stone.
Storms with gale force winds was all he had every known.

The wind ripped his umbrella backwards.
Rain danced familiarly on his head.
Life was left of center
with elusive bits of brightness
that sparkled in the labyrinth of his head.

  1. I liked this one a lot – great combinations of words e.g. 1st & 2nd lines, and fine, strong images such as the cobblestone trip and rain dancing on his head. Well done.

  2. Thanks so much for sharing this piece for the rally! I enjoyed the rhythm and the rhyme you are able to pull off here; so often modern rhymes seem stilted to me, probably because I struggle to write that way myself. 🙂
